Exhibition of the prisoner of the first transport Marian Kolodziej (NO. 432)  โ€˜Photographic Plates of Memory – Labyrinthsโ€™ by Marian Kolodziej exhibitionfor HMD in Aberdeen which will be held at Aberdeen Central Library. located permanently in the basement of the Franciscan church in Harmฤ™ลผe near Oล›wiฤ™cim.As a prisoner of the first transport to Auschwitz and a victim of subsequent concentration camps, Marian Koล‚odziej spent more than five years in German captivity, which makes him a credible witness to Nazi crimes. After the war, he remained silent about his experiences for over fifty years, carrying the deeply hidden truth about Auschwitz. After the stroke he suffered in 1992, he began to create a series of drawings: “Photographic Plates of Memory – Labyrinths”, in which he included the whole truth about KL Auschwitz and other Nazi camps.

To celebrate ‘Burns Night’ with the ceilidh ‘Danse McCabre’ playing traditional Polish dances like krakowiak, polonez as well as ceilidh dances. We serve our guests Polish and Scottish traditional dishes: haggis, neeps, tatties and bigos, pierogi, barszcz with krokiety and Polish traditional sandwiches.

Mechanicy Szanty & Polish-Scottish Song Group

They are a renowned band performing sea shanties, sailorsโ€™ songs, and folk-inspired music. Formed in 1985 in Gdynia, they have performed across Europe and the USA and won major sea song festivals in Poland.

At this event, audiences can enjoy classics like Dziki wล‚รณczฤ™ga, ลปegluj, and Maui, as well as new songs from their upcoming album.

A lively evening of music and the spirit of the sea awaits!

Wojciech Smarzowski (born January 18, 1963, in Korczyn) is one of the most important contemporary Polish film directors, screenwriters, and cinematographers. Known for his uncompromising style, stark realism, and critical view of Polish society and history, he has gained both national and international recognition. A graduate of the ลรณdลบ Film School, he debuted with The Wedding (2004) and later directed acclaimed films such as The Dark House, Rose, Volhynia, and Clergy. His work, marked by naturalism, black humour, and emotional intensity, has earned numerous awards, including the Golden Lions in Gdynia, Polish Film Awards (Eagles), and the Polityka Passport.

Paulina Przybysz – Singer, songwriter and composer, after over 20 years on stage, has recorded an album of jazz standards that have inspired and shaped her since childhood. The album Insides was released on 1 March under her own label, Calm Courage.

Support act:
ESTUARY TRIO – The newly formed Estuary Trio is an ensemble made up of some of the finest contemporary musicians in Scotland. Comprised of Aberdonians Matthew Kilner (saxophone) and Graeme Stephen (electric guitar) plus Lebanese bass player Elie Afif (double bass) the band explores collective improvisation over jazz and folk themes.
